Coronado Heights Castle - Coronado Heights, Lindsborg, KS
I would have never expected to see something like this in the middle of Kansas. Coronado Heights, a high hill overlooking Central Kansas gives a magnificent view in all directions, especially from the top of this small castle. Coronado Heights was one of Roosevelt's Works Project Administration projects in the 1930's. It was erected as a monument for the Spanish explorer, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, who supposedly came to this hill and turned his gold-searching expedition around when he couldn't find any evidence of gold in the area.
